“Creativity is contagious, pass it on,” said physicist Albert Einstein.

These words ring true especially in the Bonick household.

Dona Kopol Bonick is a distinguished, sought-after photographer while husband John Bonick paints large, energetic abstracts that are included in prestigious collections throughout the Bay Area. Both earn their living as professional artists.

It was inevitable that sons Dylan, 33, and Max, 28, would inherit the creative genes of their parents. Dylan creates photography and street-art-inspired “found” paintings (as well as painting and producing handmade surfboards at his home in Maui). Max has chosen the route of multi-instrumentalist jazz musician and composer.

All four family members are sharing their work in an exhibit titled “Generate: Four Artists, Three Mediums, Two Generations, One Big Show,” now on view through April 24 in the Vineyard/Tasting Room at the Robert Mondavi Winery, 7801 St. Helena Highway, Oakville. Open hours run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and while you’re there, grab a glass of wine — the perfect elixir to enhance your viewing experience.

The Bonicks’ works are fiercely independent yet lovingly complementary.
