Patrick Dintino
Resilience
September 2 - October 1, 2020
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the ninth solo exhibition with Patrick Dintino.
“I am reminded every day of the incredible mechanism of survival that defines who we are as a species.” – Patrick Dintino
For Patrick Dintino’s latest series of paintings, he studied mutation, natural selection and mutualism in the animal kingdom to have a greater understanding of how our species evolved to where we are now. Dintino discovered that through diversity, species achieve resilience.
When exploring the color codes of resilient species, Dintino was astounded by the lush hues and elaborate patterns of both camouflage and display. By applying oil on canvas using brushes to seamlessly blend the paint into vivid diffused color bands, Dintino captures the color codes of various resilient species in this body of work.
Dintino believes the concept of camouflage and display extends to the human species, where media and communication are used to express our image and opinions. Our species uniqueness is at the core of our collective strength and boosts our ability to survive daily challenges, both real and ideological. By celebrating the diversity of resilient species, Dintino believes we can grow together in cooperation and discovery.
