Philip Buller
Used Paintings
October 8 – November 7, 2014
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 8, 5:30 - 7:30 PM
“I try not to think about painting, instead I try to make choices intuitively.”
—Philip Buller
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition featuring new paintings by Philip Buller, with an opening reception held on Wednesday, October 8th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
In this new body of work, Used Paintings, Philip Buller questions the use of a painting for both the painter and the viewer. While the viewers can determine the use of a painting for themselves, for Buller the paintings are a vehicle of creative and personal growth. Guided by his subconscious and intuition, Buller first focuses on composition, allowing meaning to evolve from shape and shadow.
Philip Buller has exhibited at the Elliott Louis Gallery, Vancouver, BC, California Museum of Art, Santa Rosa, CA, Susan Street Fine Art, Solana Beach, CA, and Alpha Gallery, Boston, MA. Buller received his MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1994. This is his ninth exhibition at Andrea Schwartz Gallery.
