Born to parents who traveled frequently, Danäe Anderson was exposed to art at a young age.
"My parents took me to every museum wherever we went. My father collected masks and objects of original cultures."
Anderson also trained as a dancer, focusing on improvisational movement and Merce Cunningham choreography. This early exposure to visual and physical creativity is evident in Anderson's work, which evolves from an interest in physicality and the immediacy of thought and action. Her surfaces are layered and developed over time, through concious and unconcious action. Anderson describes the work as a minimalist narrative.
