Growing up in the Midwest in the 1950s, Barbara Kronlins came from a family that encouraged making things, sculpture and drawings and paintings. Frequent outings to the museums in Detroit and Chicago were exciting and inspiring adventures.
Influenced by Pop Art, while studying English and Art at Western Michigan University, she makes pieces that pop with color and touch, using vintage papers: old coloring books, picture postcards, matchbook covers, comics, sheet music, a diverse array of papers, colored and cut, combining art and life.
She lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
