Reception: Wednesday, June 25th, 5:30 - 7:30pm
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the 9th exhibition with Wynne Hayakawa.
“We May not be here again - on Mount Tamalpais, standing near a magnificent oak tree. The bay trees we saw will not be in the same light if we return later.” – Wynne Hayakawa
Wynne Hayakawa’s new body of work focuses on the oak, laurel and redwood trees of coastal California. Hayakawa records moments spent in nature with her camera, capturing the movement of the trees with a slow shutter speed. The photographs are archivally printed on canvas for Hayakawa to add multiple layers of oil paint to the surface to create abstracted dimension. Her paintings are an evolving process – an interplay of color, light, and space. Hayakawa hopes her work invites viewers to take a step outside and spend some time amongst the trees.
