Emilio Lobato is the 16th generation of his father's family in the "New World". His ancestry has informed and inspired his art from his earliest days. For the past 15 years, Emilio has utilized antique books and dictionaries as the background in his collage paintings. This connection to language resonates with the Hispanic tradition of storytelling and oral history. This duality of old world identity and modern sensibilities are reflected in Emilio's boldly geometric yet elegant compositions.
